E-commerce portal LinuxMall.com staged the re-opening of its site this week, sporting a strategic redesign with added navigability and content.
Key investor and partner SCO (Nasdaq: SCOC) contributed resources and Web designers to the effort, which features an online manual for newbies along with entertainment and Linux resources sections.
“The new design will allow LinuxMall.com to easily add new content,” said a LinuxMall statement. “The improvements made by the Web designers will help provide our customers with the best news, information, selection, service and prices,” added company CEO Mark Bolzern.
Founded in 1996, LinuxMall.com is a sponsoring corporate member of Linux International, and endeavors to be the “one stop” Linux e-commerce site. Among the offerings are apparel, books, magazines, and software.
The site will feature products on a regular basis, with selections such as the NETMAX Linux Web Server software package and a copy of the Penguin Computing poster with the line, “Good evening, Mr. Gates, I’ll be your server today.”
The Next Level
“When our partners at LinuxMall.com asked us to help with the re-design of their site, we were more than happy to provide some of our Web expertise and resources,” stated David Eyes, open-source marketing manager for SCO. “LinuxMall.com is a fast-growing company with a very compelling business model.”
LinuxMall announced its strategic partnership with SCO (Santa Cruz Operation) in October. The SCO investment, according to Bolzern, allows the company “to take LinuxMall.com to the next level and the meet the needs of the growing Linux community.”
SCO Partners With TurboLinux
In another recent Linux-related move, SCO and TurboLinux jointly announced the availability of different levels of service offerings for the TurboLinux TurboCluster Server 4.0 product.
The packages, “TurboCluster Audit” and “TurboCluster Start-up,” are designed, according to a joint statement, to assist corporate users and resellers in the processes of configuration, deployment, installation and planning. Additionally, TurboLinux customers will have access to the Linux Professional Consulting Services available through SCO.
“We are ready to assist TurboLinux’s customers with their enterprise deployments of the new TurboCluster Server offering,” commented David Taylor, vice president of SCO’s Professional Services organization. “With more than 20 years experience providing services for Intel-based UNIX systems, SCO understands the customer requirements for enterprise-computing.”
